Training Options for Community Health Workers/Promotoras

The SDSU IRB is able to accept existing training programs, such as BRIC, specifically designed for community health workers engaged in human subjects research.

For all other SDSU faculty, staff, and students engaged in human subjects research, the trainings do not replace the CITI Human Subjects training. All SDSU personnel must still complete the CITI training to comply with institutional and regulatory requirements.

For more information about the IRB-accepted training programs for Community Health Workers contact us at [email protected].

NIH-Funded Clinical Trials

Effective January 1, 2017 – NIH expects all NIH-funded clinical investigators and clinical trial staff who are involved in the design, conduct, oversight, or management of clinical trials to be trained in Good Clinical Practice (GCP). Recipients of GCP training are expected to retain documentation of their training. GCP training should be refreshed at least every three years in order to stay up to date with regulations, standards, and guidelines.
