Export Control
is to support and enable international research collaboration by helping our researchers understand and navigate the complexities of U.S. export control laws. We provide essential resources, training, and guidance to faculty, staff, and students, protecting the institution from legal and reputational risks associated with the unauthorized transfer of controlled technology, information, and materials. We are dedicated to providing expert guidance and resources to ensure all research activities, both on and off campus, comply with federal regulations, thereby safeguarding academic freedom and promoting responsible global engagement. Our Mission
.
Taking University-owned equipment (laptops, specialized cameras, scientific gear) or unpublished, controlled information (e.g., non-public data, proprietary software), or traveling to a sanctioned country will require export control review. Sharing unpublished technical data (e.g., design, development, production of controlled items) with a foreign national, either in the U.S. or abroad may require review. Hosting a visiting scholar or foreign national who will access export-controlled items/technology or restricted areas of the lab will also require a review. Grant-related Workshops
