Grad Slam

The College of Graduate Studies has partnered with the Division of Research and Innovation to host the SDSU Grad Slam competition (a.k.a. 3-Minute Thesis) as part of the SDSU Student Symposium (S3). This event provides an additional opportunity for SDSU master’s and doctoral students to showcase their research, scholarship, or other creative work.

The SDSU Grad Slam competition will take place virtually on Wednesday, March 5, 2025.

This format simulates the actual CSU-wide Grad Slam competition which is to be held virtually via Zoom on May 9, 2025. It also enables master's and doctoral students to separately present at the SDSU Student Symposium.

During the competition, graduate students will be judged by a panel based on their ability to successfully engage a non-specialist audience while communicating key details about their research, scholarship, or other creative work in three minutes or less with just a single PowerPoint slide.

To help finalize the presentation schedule, please confirm your interest in this competition by completing the following form no later than Friday, January 24, 2025Additional details regarding the event along with your presentation schedule will be provided in a separate communication.

Participation is not guaranteed; the College of Graduate Studies will review interested participants and invite finalists to compete.
