2025 SDSU Student Symposium (S³)

Congratulations to the 2025 S3 award winners as well as all of the presenters who were not selected as winners. Thank you to all of our judges, moderators and sponsors.

What is S3?

The SDSU Student Symposium, or S3, is a two-day event, occurring each spring semester that is a showcase of SDSU student discovery, innovation, and creativity. S3 is a public forum where students at all levels have the opportunity to present their research, scholarship, and creative activities to the SDSU and San Diego communities. The SDSU Student Symposium is a great way to learn about all the incredible projects that our undergraduate and graduate students are working on under the direction of their faculty mentors.

For All SDSU Students

All SDSU undergraduate and graduate students, from all disciplines, present either preliminary, ongoing, or completed projects. Presentations whether oral, poster, exhibit, or performance, are organized by academic disciplines. Imperial Valley students also participate; transportation support to and from Imperial Valley is provided.

Project types include, but are not limited to:

  • Experiment
  • Intervention
  • Archival work
  • Case study
  • Business development plans
  • Film
  • Dance
  • Product design
  • Sculpture
  • Management project
  • Music performance
  • Critical analysis
  • Literature review
  • Marketing or sales analysis
  • And more!

Why Participate in S3?

The Symposium is an opportunity to hone public speaking skills and network with fellow students, faculty, staff and potential employers. Presenters receive constructive feedback from community judges to help them enhance their projects. In addition to looking great on a resume for graduate school or careers, presenting makes students eligible for more than 70 cash prize awards. Overall, the event is a celebration more than it is a competition.
