Technology Transfer and Intellectual Property for Faculty Workshop
This session will cover important intellectual property (IP) management considerations for researchers and commercialization programs available to faculty and staff. Technology Transfer Office (TTO) director Tommy Martindale will provide a description of the various forms of IP (patents, copyrights, trademarks and trade secrets) and how each one impacts faculty and research.
Tommy will provide information about the TTO’s role in supporting commercialization of faculty IP and research products. Additionally, this session will cover the do’s and don’ts of communicating ideas with potential industry partners. Tommy will also outline invention reporting obligations required under federal awards, an important compliance matter even for researchers who do not wish to pursue commercialization.
If you are developing intellectual property or products, or if you are unfamiliar with invention disclosure requirements of federal grants, this workshop will be of interest to you!
